Who We Are
Marylanders United to Stop Slots is a grassroots coalition consisting of thousands of concerned citizens who oppose amending our Constitution to allow for slot machine gambling. We are your friends and your neighbors, leaders of faith and conscious who oppose taking Maryland in the wrong direction. We are a coalition of community, faith and political activists who oppose back door taxation on working families. Join our coalition today »
Our opponents are the fat cat gambling industry executives that rig slot machines in their favor so that they can make millions from bankrupting working families. They're going to spend millions of dollars trying to convince you that windfall profits for them are good for Maryland. That gambling is good for Maryland. Don’t believe them. The truth is, as J. Joseph Curran wrote, "casinos would bring a substantial increase in crime to our State. There would be more violent crime, more crimes against property, more insurance fraud, more white collar crime, more juvenile crime, more drug- and alcohol-related crime, more domestic violence and child abuse, and more organized crime." Slot casinos will spell the beginning of the end of the Maryland brand which has come to stand for a high quality of life, great education and the kind of place you want to raise a family.
We believe that the power of people is stronger than the fat cat gambling industry. Together, we can stop slots. Join our coalition now »
