1 Day Until Voters Decide If Slots Should Be Legal

In addition to the question of whom will be the next president of the United States, the other question on the minds of Marylanders is question number two: whether or not slot machine gambling should be legal in the state.

Mary Bubala has a look at the latest poll showing where voters stand on the issue.

According to a new Zogby Poll, Maryland voters are split when it comes to slot machine gambling.

The governor and other supporters would like to see 15,000 slot machines at five different locations throughout the state. Slot supporters say the machines will help boost state revenue during tough economic times.

But according to a new poll conducted by Zogby International, not all voters agree with the idea.

The poll shows that 48 percent of Marylanders plan to vote "no" to slots, while 45 percent plan to cast their ballots in favor of the slots referendum.

Eight percent of Marylanders polled say they are still undecided on the issue.

With 24 hours to go before voters head to the polls, slots supporters and opponents will be trying to sway votes.

The poll was commissioned by the group "Stop Slots Maryland" and has a margin of error of 3.4%.
